Downtown Street Improvements Project Update

Downtown street improvements have begun on Lake, Petoskey and Bay Streets. Construction crews are removing concrete and asphalt components and will begin with new installations thereafter.

Improvements at the intersection of East Lake Street and Petoskey Street include the removal of current road materials in preparation of replacing the concrete and paver bricks.  In conjunction with these intersection improvements, portions of Petoskey Street north to Bay Street will be re-constructed for improved vehicular and pedestrian circulation.  This work will also include handicap ramps and curb replacement in the Bayfront Park Tunnel vicinity.  New asphalt pavement is planned for East Lake Street from U.S. 31 to Howard Street and Petoskey Street from Bay Street to Mitchell Street.  Along with this paving, curb and sidewalk spot repairs will be made throughout the downtown area. The general contractor, Tri-County Excavating, will provide access to all businesses during this project with a completion date of late-May to early June.  We thank you for your patience through this construction project.
